HEAD OF KILLED UNIVERSITY STUDENT WAENI RECUPERATED IN KIAMBAA
A postmortem revealed that she had missing nails when her body was discovered in a trash can, hours after she had been brutally murdered.
The head of Rita Waeni, the murdered university student, is thought to have been found in a dam in Kiambaa.
This will enable the authorities to piece together the movements of her killers after her murder at a Roysambu flat.
Additionally, her lost cell phone was found by the officers.
Though the police think the murderers were professionals, the motivation for the killing is yet unknown.
A postmortem revealed that she had missing nails when her body was discovered in a trash can, hours after she had been brutally murdered.
Despite not having a direct connection to the murder, four individuals are being held in connection with it.
Following the exercise, government pathologist Johansen Oduor stated, "This person who did all of this also tried to clip off the fingernails for reasons which I might not be able to know, but for us scientists when we see fingernails clipped off, we think probably the person was trying to hide evidence so that we are unable to get his DNA from the victim."
Detectives are baffled by the discovery because the killing's motivation is still unknown.
"I don't know why, but these kinds of nails are useful for gathering evidence in investigations. Oduor stated, "People fight when they're dying and DNA evidence can be hidden there."
Oduor did, however, state that samples were taken for additional study to aid police in their investigations and that there were fragments of some fingernails.
The head and legs had been severed from the trunk, and the autopsy verified that the body had been mutilated.
"The bone was sawed off with what appears to be a hacksaw, but the skin appears to have been cut with a sharp tool. I have never seen anything like this before. I have never encountered an occurrence like this in my forensic career," Oduor stated.
