Hallucinations involve seeing things or hearing voices that aren't observed by others. Delusions involve firm beliefs about things that are not true. People with schizophrenia can seem to lose touch with reality, which can make daily living very hard.

Some people believe the cause of schizophrenia is witchcraft  but researchers believe that it is a mix of genetics, brain chemistry and environment can play a part. They states that Changes in certain naturally occurring brain chemicals, including neurotransmitters called dopamine and glutamate, may play a part in schizophrenia.

Family history of having cases of schizophrenia, life experiences like poverty immense stress, pregnancy and birth issues such as not getting enough nutrition before or after birth, low birth weight, or exposure to toxins or viruses before birth that may affect brain development and also taking mind altering drugs as teens or young adults. This makes the exact cause of this disease not to be exactly known.

Victims of schizophrenia sometime have suicidal thoughts, depression, not able to work or go to school, use of harmful drugs, social isolation and also Aggressive or violent behavior, though people with schizophrenia are more likely to be assaulted rather than assault others.

Schizophrenia as a mental disorder disease has symptom which separates it from depression. People with the issue mostly have delusions of what they think is happening but it is not. Also they hallucinate of having false fantasies which do not exist.Hallucinations can occur with any of the senses, but hearing voices is most common. They may also have disorganized speech like what you ask them is very different from what they answer and they seem to be withdrawn from daily activities making it difficult to associate with people.

In men, schizophrenia symptoms usually start in the late teens to early 20s while in women, symptoms usually begin in the late 20s to early 30s. There also is a group of people  usually women  who are diagnosed later in life. It isn't common for children to be diagnosed with schizophrenia.

In teenagers with schizophrenia, they withdraw from family and friends they tend to lock themselves up and being alone.Their school work drastically drops and also have difficulties in sleeping and also seems depressed and lack of motivation.

People with schizophrenia often don't know that they have a mental condition that needs medical attention. As a result, family or friends often need to get them help.
