The death of a lecturer, Samuel Owino Mwanda, on Thursday, September 19, has cast a pall over the University of Nairobi fraternity.

Mwanda was found dead at his Homa Bay, Karachuonyo Sub County residence. His body was discovered hanging from a tree in what is believed to be a suicide case.
Witnesses told press that one of the lecturer's employees discovered the lecturer's body and promptly notified the police and the locals.

According to additional reports, the event may have happened hours after the don returned from Nairobi to his home.

Speaking with the media, the employee said that when the lecturer got home from the city, he didn't appear uncomfortable at all.
Chief of Homa Bay County Police Hassan Barua disclosed that the lecturer had dinner with his staff that fatal night, even though he confirmed the incident. Unfortunately, the lecturer's plans to go to Nairobi the following day did not work out.

Even telling his employees to milk the cows and perform other tasks around the estate was something the police noticed.
A ladder that the victim was purportedly using to scale the tree was found by the police during their investigation inside the deceased's compound.
