I HAVEN'T GIVEN UP ON MONDA! MP SYLVANUS OSORO REMARKS FOLLOWING THE DG'S IMPEACHMENT.
Osoro stated on Thursday that he still supports Monda and that there is no need to misunderstand him.
Sylvanus Osoro, the MP for South Mugirango, defended himself on Thursday against claims that he turned his back on impeached Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda in a time of need.
Osoro stated on Thursday that he still supports Monda and that there is no need to misunderstand him.
"I don't have to put in the press or respond to every claim bandied in social media, just know we are working and we are still friends with him," Osoro stated.
Osoro, a crucial regional Kenya Kwanza pillar, has been at odds with Kisii Governor Simba Arati.
He had initially pledged to use his influence in the Senate to save Monda.
"I swear before God that Monda is staying put and that you will use the meager amount of money you have been given to transport him to Nairobi. We are aware of how to handle it. "He is not leaving," Osorio declared following Monda's impeachment by the MCAs.
Osoro, however, took two hits when the motion was presented to the Senate.
As part of Monda's defense unit, the first blow was delivered. The other was that the motion was ultimately successful, forcing him and a few of his allies to start over from scratch.
Monda was charged with egregious legal and constitutional violations, official misconduct, abuse of power, and violations of national law.
After the majority of Senators agreed to sustain the four allegations brought against him by the Kisii County Assembly members, the DG would subsequently lose his position.
Under article 181 of the Constitution, section 33 (7) of the County Government's Act and standing order 86 of the Senate standing orders, the senate has resolved to remove from office by impeachment Dr. Robert Monda, the Deputy Governor of Kisii County and the deputy governor therefore ceases to hold office," Amason Kingi, the Senate Speaker, stated.
Since then, the deputy governor has filed an appeal with the court and is awaiting instructions as of March 26.
To give the deputy governor a little reprieve, one petitioner has also requested a stay order against the gazettement of the impeachment.
When asked about Arati's selection of Elijah Obebo as the nominee for deputy governor, Osoro stated that doing so would be disrespectful to the deputy governor's plea.
"I am not talking on this matter, it is already in court and Monda remains DG until the matter is heard and determined," he stated to the Star.
The Majority Whip stated that the winner would only be revealed following the last count of the events that transpired.
"There is nothing at all. Someone left me with an egg all over my face. Let's wait, it's important to be patient," Osoro texted the Star.
