Center referees are set to wear a head mounted camera that is connected to the referee’s normal communication system. Referee Jarred Gillett was the first to don the ‘RefCam’ in the clash between Manchester united and Crystal palace.
The RefCam was introduced in the Bundesliga this season where the center referee Daniel Schlager wore a camera during the 2-2 draw between Frankfurt and Wolfsburg in March .
The footage recorded from the actions will not be broadcasted live but instead it will be featured in a short program that will be aired on a later date.
This new rules will offer football fanatics a perspective to feature in conversations with players and give a close up view of the actions on the pitch.
This decision has been approved by both the International Football Association board, the English Premier League and the Professional Game Match Officials Limited.
