In recent years, Kenya has witnessed a significant shift in its political landscape, driven largely by the activism and influence of Generation Z. This demographic, characterized by individuals born between the mid-1990s and early 2010s, has emerged as a formidable force in shaping the nation's political and social discourse. The most striking manifestation of their power was the dissolution of the Kenyan cabinet, a move that sent shockwaves through the country's political establishment.

Gen Z in Kenya is the first generation to grow up with the internet and social media as integral parts of their daily lives. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram  have given them unprecedented access to information and a powerful tool for mobilization. This digital fluency has allowed them to organize quickly, spread their messages widely, and hold those in power accountable in ways previous generations could not.

The cabinet's dissolution can be traced back to a series of online campaigns and protests spearheaded by Gen Z activists. Frustrated by corruption, nepotism, and inefficiency within the government, these young Kenyans took to social media to voice their discontent. Hashtags like #CabinetMustGo and #YouthForChange trended for weeks, drawing national and international attention to their cause.

Faced with mounting pressure from the youth, the government initially attempted to placate the protesters with promises of reform and anti-corruption measures. However, these efforts were seen as too little, too late. The relentless pressure from Gen Z activists, coupled with widespread public support, left the government with no choice but to take more drastic action.

In a historic move, the President announced the dissolution of the cabinet, citing the need for a fresh start and a commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the youth. This unprecedented decision marked a significant victory for Gen Z and underscored their growing influence in Kenyan politics.
