Following an outbreak of an odd disease at Mukindu Primary School in Mwingi, Kitui County, two students have passed away.

The first student was reportedly a Grade Two student, while the second student, who passed almost a week later, was a Grade Seven student who was 13 years old.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Joseph Kimotho, verified the epidemic and stated that the kids experienced comparable symptoms, including intense headaches, elevated fevers, nosebleeds, vomiting, and yellowing of the eyes, among others.

Numerous more children were reported to have similar symptoms; some were treated and returned to school, but Kimotho stated he was unsure of what the outbreak could be.

According to David Musili, the uncle of the deceased seventh-grader, his nephew passed away when they were organizing to get him to Ishiara Level 4 Hospital because other local medical institutions are closed and others are running low on supplies.

Area MCA Titus Kasinga demanded that the Kitui Health Ministry conduct additional research to determine the precise outbreak that resulted in the deaths, pointing out that students remain in danger.

To prevent deaths, Kasinga also urged the same government to make sure local health institutions are operationalized and equipped.

The student's family is currently getting ready to bury the thirteen-year-old at their residence in the Mumoni ward of Mwingi North's Mukong'a neighborhood.
