Githurai 45 Massacre: Over 20 Killed in Police Raid

The number of people who died during yesterday's police raid is still unknown but it is estimated that atleast 20 people were shot dead last night.

The president declared that Tuesday's protests were hijacked by criminals who wanted to undermine national security and ordered security agencies to do everything to control what he termed as treasonous riots.

Githurai 45 is an informal settlement where many young people in Nairobi reside. Journalist and human rights groups continue to visit nearby hospitals to verify the total number of people who died in what has been called massacre.
