Budget 2024-Government to Invest Big on Agriculture

The government is going to invest big in the upcoming financial year. Finance CS Prof Njuguna Ndungu has proposed a huge budget to boost agricultural production and value addition.

Finance CS said that the government is committed to transforming small-scale farmers from small scale farmers to farmers who are self-reliant.

 ''Government is committed to transform farmers from subsistent farming to surplus food producers,'' Ndungu said.

In the current budget proposal government will invest Kshs54.6billion for value addition and Ksh10billion for the fertilizer subsidy programme.

In addition government will invest 2.4billion for livestock budget and support programs and an additional 113 billion for the blue economy.
