EDUCATION MINISTRY UNVEILS SH5 TRILLION SECTOR STRATEGIC PLAN

Launched on Thursday, the fourth National Education Sector Strategic Plan 2023-2027 was released by the Ministry of Education.
The ministry would need Sh5.2 trillion to carry out the plan over the next five years, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
According to him, the government will receive Sh3.47 trillion.
"Sh 3.47 trillion will be provided by the government and we expect that we should be able to raise Sh 1.55 trillion from our development partners and household contributions," added Machogu.
At the five-year plan's introduction on Thursday, he gave a speech at the Kenya School of Government.
By December of this year, the ministry intends to build 16,000 new JSS classrooms, according to the CS.
"With our Sh 3.5 billion, we can build 3,500 schools. He stated, "The schools have already received that money."
According to him, the plan also calls for the renovation and restoration of other buildings, including dining halls, washrooms, and laboratories.
Machogu added that in accordance with the strategic plan, the ministry will hire 111,870 instructors.
"We currently have 56,750 teachers working for us. "We're almost done," he remarked.
He pointed out that there is a method in the plan for including students with special needs at all educational levels.
"To increase access to equitable education, the ministry will seek support from other partners in implementing the school meals programme targeting marginalized areas and the urban poor," stated the minister.
According to Machogu, the food program for ASAL schools and the urban poor has benefited up to 2.6 million school-age children.
According to him, there are now more students at schools as a result of the feeding program.
