CECM ALFRED NDEMO SURVIVES IMPEACHMENT
43 ward delegates voted against the measure, and Ndemo, who was cited for gross misconduct due to accusations of skewed hiring and forging Governor Simba Arati's signature, survived.
Following the County Assembly's absolution of Alfred Ndemo on Wednesday, the Kisii County Executive Committee Member for Administration has managed to avoid impeachment proceedings.
43 ward delegates voted against the measure, and Ndemo, who was cited for gross misconduct due to accusations of skewed hiring and forging Governor Simba Arati's signature, survived.
The resolution about Governor Simba Arati, who removed the Executive around a year ago, received support from twenty-four members of the County Assembly.
The motion's supporters claimed that Ndemo intimidated staff members and gave preference to female applicants throughout the hiring process.
The Leadership and Integrity Act infringement was identified by them.
A five-person committee was established by the Assembly to look into the issue and provide a solution.
A complaint that Ndemo had taken over an enforcement officer to carry out his orders—including, at one point, asking the officer to follow him home—was supported by the Michael Motume-led committee.
Chief whip for the minority, Denis Ombachi, criticized the report, claiming it overlooked significant issues that were serious enough to call for an impeachment.
To summon his Cabinet to order without ruining their reputation, Ombachi urged Arati to come up with alternative ideas.
Kindly let's look at alternative approaches to problem solutions. For the sake of politics, our sons and daughters must endure the agonizing process of impeachment, he said.
"We shouldn't be able to impeach someone for the crime of an enforcement officer escorting a CECM home," said Ombachi.
