Kipyegon competes in this category alongside other well-known athletes such as Sha'Carri Richardson and Mikaela Shiffrin from the USA, Sherricka Jackson from Jamaica, Iga Swiatek from Poland, and Aitana Bonmati from Spain.
Outstanding sports figures from all over the world will be acknowledged at the annual awards ceremony, which takes place in Madrid, Spain on April 22.
Kipyegon made history in the World Championships by becoming the first female athlete to win the 1,500 and 5,000 meters.

They are nominated together with other exceptional teams, such as the European Golf Team Ryder Cup, the British football giants Manchester City, the rugby powerhouse Springboks of South Africa, the men's basketball team of Germany, and the racing team Red Bull Racing from Austria.
American gymnast Simone Biles is one of the nominees for Comeback of the Year, along with NBA player Jamal Murray of Canada, rugby player Siya Kolisi of South Africa, football player Sebastien Haller of Ivory Coast, and tennis player Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic.
