The finance bill 2024 proposes to increase levies on a wide range of products and services ,law makers debated and voted on the issues.The bill faced widespread criticism from the public that have been overburdened by the high cost of living.
The bill proposes an eco-tax on products that considered harmful to the environment e.g plastics and tyres increase the cost of nappies ,sanitary pads ,computers and mobile phones.Income from the operation digital market places and digital content bwill also b taxed under the bill.
Kenyans are overburdened by the high cost of living ,they have faced a torrent of tax hikes in salaries and fuel since Ruto was elected in 2022.
