In a bid to address the problem of delays in the release of travel passport booklets, the government has released 112,700 passport booklets with more expected to be released in April

The Directorate had already received 50,000 50-page passports last week. Out of the 112,700 passports, 92,400 were 50-page or B series passports while 20,300 were 66-page passports or the C series.

Immigration Principal Secretary Julius Bitok said that the government is committed to speeding the processing and printing of passports to eliminate delays that have been experienced in the past.

Bitok also encouraged people with 34-page passports to upgrade and get the B series passports through the eCITIZEN platform.

The PS said that the government has imported two ultra-modern passport printing machines which will improve the capacity of the Directorate to print more passports.
