POLICE GET INVOLVED AFTER A RAUCOUS MOB IN KITENGELA STONE WOMAN HIDING INSIDE A CAR
The heckling group was seen throwing stones at the car in a witness's video, seriously damaging the windows and body of the vehicle.
On Thursday, after the driver fled her car after being accused of running down their colleague, a group of boda boda riders stoned her.
Reportedly, the event took place at approximately 6:10 p.m. in Nairobi's Kitengela neighborhood.
The heckling group was seen throwing stones at the car in a witness's video, seriously damaging the windows and body of the vehicle.
Also parked on the incorrect side of the road, the automobile was seen in pictures sitting atop a motorcycle.
There were a few boda riders around it who seemed to be looking for a way to get the woman who was in danger out.
The angry crowd also yelled and laughed at the driver as they bayed for her blood, all without worrying about being caught on camera. After that, they encircled the car and demanded that she come outside to settle the dispute; she disregarded their request.
A traffic police officer at the site was observed trying to call for help as the brawl broke out because he was unable to control the mob.
Shortly after, additional law enforcement officials showed up, ensuring the woman's safety before dividing the group.
Unverified rumors claimed that the woman knocked down a boda boda rider while driving while intoxicated. Even after the incident was investigated, police had not yet confirmed the same.
In a related event, at ABC Place along Waiyaki Way on Thursday, two persons died instantly after being pushed from the motorcycle they were riding. A third individual was taken to the Eagle Hospital in Kangemi after suffering severe injuries.
The trio reportedly tried to cross the highway on the incorrect side of the street and were struck by a car. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has released data showing that between January 1 and January 7 of this year, 84 persons died, which is 14 more than the number of deaths reported during the same time last year. With 31, pedestrians are the most common cause of death, up from 28 the previous year. Motorcycle riders come next, accounting for 23 deaths—one fewer than the 24 reported in 2023.
