Public service commission statistics show that more than 2,000 government employees are using forged academic and professional qualifications to secure jobs or earn promotions. This has also been attested to by DCI officers who are investigating several cases concerning forgery of academic certificates.
3 government employees were arraigned in court over holding fake academic certificates; one of the people who were arrested is John Onyango who altered his grades and presented a certificate showing that he scored a D+ in his KCSE.
Others are Adan Bagajo and George Ereng who submitted KCSE certificates from schools which were unregistered Examination Centers.
The three worked as drivers at the Sports, Arts and Social Development Fund (SASDF) before they were detained by DCI officers.
Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei commenting on the matter retaliated stance by government that anyone found to be having fake certificates will be apprehended and charged with forgery.
