Speaking on Monday at the executive secretary's handover ceremony for the Regional Centre on Small Arms, Kindiki claimed that this will provide security and peace to the surrounding nations.

According to the CS, the region's ongoing turmoil and the necessary economic development have been impeded by the illegal small arms trade.

"The issue of light weapon negativity in our area is just as pressing and important now as it was when RECSA was first formed. Kindiki stated, "Small arms remain a source of instability in our nations and a barrier to economic growth.

He stated that Africa runs the risk of falling behind in the global industrial revolution unless the detrimental impacts of the proliferation of illicit small guns are reversed.

Africa, according to the CS, has an advantage over the rest of the world because it has the youngest population worldwide.

Kindiki stated that the area will be able to reach its full growth potential with peace and security, as well as the support of its youthful population.

"The combination of a young population and vast arable land in Africa only needs one catalyst to catapult the region into development; peace and security," said the politician.

"...with a stable continent where there is peace, security and democracy, Africa will play a decisive in the next industrial revolution."

The chair of the RECSA Council of Ministers, CS Kindiki, reaffirmed his unwavering support for Jean Pierre Betindji, the newly appointed executive director.

"I assure you of my personal, hands-on support as RECSA Chairman to ensure that the organization achieves the desired targets," he stated.

Retired Lieutenant General Badreldin E. Abdelgadir was the organization's first Executive Secretary.

To maintain long-term peace and security in the area, RECSA is tasked with removing small guns and weaponry.
