The flimsy bridge gave way when Gladys Oroo, 45, was making her way home late on Tuesday from the farm in nearby Transmara.
According to the villagers, she was with other women when she tripped, fell into the river, and perished.
Following a demanding search, only a portion of the lower abdomen was found, according to resident Kereu Nyasasa, who spoke with the Star on Thursday afternoon.
By dusk, hours after hours of shooting across the rising river, more body parts were absent.
"We are still optimistic that the other part body parts will be found by tomorrow [Friday]," he stated.
The people discussed how the county's disaster officials had neglected to show up, which had caused delays in the recovery operations.
He claimed that since the incident, the county government had not reacted to requests for assistance.
"Up to now there is no response still, we are appealing to the national government to help," he stated.
In a related incident, a middle-aged man's body was found in a well following a torturous three-day search.
The body of Abel Nyakundi was recovered from Kitutu Chache South's borehole.
There was a search after the deceased went missing for some time.
