Issues Raised During Vetting of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as CS Interior

When being vetted for the position of CS Interior, MPs have raised several issues including brutal killing of young people during antitax protests. Many MPs at the vetting panel have questioned Prof Kithure Kindiki on whether he issued shoot to kill orders during the protests.

During recent Gen Z protests in the country, there have been evident instances of police brutality where more than 40 youths were gunned down by police officers. This among other issues have been raised about occurances during Prof Kithure Kindiki's term as Cabinet Secretary for Interior Security.

When being vetted for the position of CS Interior, MPs have raised several issues including brutal killing of young people during antitax protests. Many MPs at the vetting panel have questioned Prof Kithure Kindiki on whether he issued shoot to kill orders during the protests.

The CS has also been asked about why he agreed to deploy police officers to the Haiti mission while Kenyans are suffering insecurity.

Issues have also been raised about what the former CS did about organized criminal gangs that are well known and government has intel about.

Prof Kithure Kindiki has also been asked about why he wears military regalia when he is conducting ministerial duties.

To matters concerning funding of police Prof Kindiki was asked on whether allowing the National Police Service to manage police finances was tenable and whether it is the reason the police are acting recklessly.

Tough questions have been asked during the ongoing vetting process at parliament buildings, we await to see if parliament approves Kithure's appointment as CS Interior.
