Transformer thefts have emerged as a significant concern in Kitutu Chache South affecting many areas and residents. Many people from the area have expressed their displeasure in the rising insecurity in area and have called for speedy interventions from security agencies in the region.
These criminal activities involve stealing of electrical transformers, often from power substations and utility poles. These criminal activities pose severe risks to public safety.
In a recent case there was an attempt in St Barabara Nyabondo to steal a transformer from a utility post in the area.
In another incident there was an attempt to steal a transformer from Siara village Nyakoe word where by the transformer exploded.
Transformer theft is a growing problem with serious implications for public safety. Residents from the said areas have called for coordinated efforts from KPLC, law enforcement agencies, government, and communities to effectively address and mitigate the issue.
