The gunshots were heard at approximately 9.30 p.m., according to villagers and family members. At first, they believed it was a transformer that had exploded, but they soon realized that Okari had been shot.
According to family members, the unidentified individuals stole money and other items from him and searched his pockets.
Bathsheba Okari, Okari's wife, stated that she believes her husband was murdered as a result of a land dispute.
"He has repeatedly voiced concerns about a plot to assassinate him. Before all of this, there had been an earlier attempt on his life," she stated.
The deceased's uncle, Denis Anyagi, said that after multiple attempts at resolution, they had assumed the land dispute was settled.

He told reporters, "But as investigations begin, we ask our people to maintain peace."
As stated by Nyaura Chief Nyakundi Johnson, an investigation is currently underway with the goal of apprehending perpetrators.
