The office of the Auditor General has brought attention to more allegations of impropriety involving Sh2.3 billion in the county, and Senator Okong'o Mogeni has urged the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to look into them.

Towards the close of the Fiscal Year that concluded in June 2023, Nyamira was one of five counties that Auditor General Nancy Gathungu described last week as having improperly accounted for enormous sums of money sent from the National Treasury.

Nyamira was placed among the counties that the Auditor had highlighted due to a variety of problems, including payments for services that were never provided, inconsistencies in financial expenditure records, and skyrocketing salary bills.

In response to the disclosures, Mogeni—who also serves as chairman of the Senate's Standing Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs—has urged the investigation authorities to move swiftly to prosecute any officers who are found guilty of the charges.

Omogeni claimed that the EACC in particular was not performing up to standard by moving quickly to address reported corruption cases that he noticed were piling up without being addressed.
