Over 600 families living near River Thiba have been displaced after the river burst its banks. According to Kirinyanga county Red Cross Coordinator, those who have been largely affected are those leaving near river thiba.
Over 600 families living near River Thiba have been displaced after the river burst its banks. According to Kirinyanga county Red Cross Coordinator, those who have been largely affected are those leaving near river thiba.
“The affected families have received aid in form of a kitchen set,two blankets, two mosquito nets,two bars of soap,one sleeping mat and a temporary tent,”said by red cross coordinator.
Other residents have been left homeless since river Thiba broke its banks on Tuesday destroyingproperty worth millions.
Kirinyaga county commissioner Hussein Allow is urging the resident to move to higher areas to avoid the impact of the ongoing floods.
Many areas have been affected by flooding caused by the ongoing heavy rains in the country. The Athi River has also burst its banks completely submerging a bridge on Namanga road while most parts in the city are under water.
