POLITICS WATCH: THE PRESIDENT HAS FAILED HUSTLERS

During the electioneering period president William Ruto pegged his campaign on the hustler ideology. Ruto went across all the 47 counties in Kenya telling people of how he had the agenda to lift them from poverty. He promised that he had solutions to create jobs for young people and promised heaven to the “boda boda guy and the mama mboga.”

Many warned Kenyans that this was pure deceit but it felt on deaf ears as many bought into Ruto’s ideas and voted for him overwhelmingly. Immediately he was elected we saw his true colors.

First, he slashed subsidies on fuel leading to skyrocketing of fuel prices causing Kenyans pain at the pump. This obviously led to an upsurge of food prices, basic commodities and a surge in the cost of transportation. So much to say about a man who had the hustlers on top of his agenda.

Second, he gives all of the senior political positions to his political friends and those who were loyal to him in the campaigns. Not considering merit or expertise. Ruto did not consider to appoint any of the young people he had promised to give jobs. So to say, the hustler agenda sold to young people in the country was pure deceit.

Third, he gives Kenyans a financial bill that raised taxes exponentially affecting trade and the prices of basic commodities. The financial bill imposes a housing levy on all employees in the country despite widespread outcry and even the levy being declared unconstitutional by Kenyan courts.

These are just a few actions that show that the president does not factor hustlers. In fact, hustlers are the biggest losers in the current government. Someone should tell the president that Kenyans are suffering, especially those he promised that he would uplift them from poverty and give them opportunities to improve their lives; the infamous hustlers. Otherwise, Kenyans have fallen victim to politics of deceit yet again.
