PRESIDENT RUTO REVEALS SENIOR KDF APPOINTMENTS RESHUFFLE

Major General Charles Muriu Kahariri, the Vice Chief of Staff of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), has been elevated to the distinguished rank of Lieutenant General by President William Ruto.

Lieutenant General Jonah Maina Mwangi, who is retiring after 42 years in the military, will be replaced by Kahariri.

Kenya Army Commander Major General David Kimaiyo Tarus has also been promoted to a level equivalent to that of Kahariri.

Tarus, a former deputy commander of the Kenyan Army, will succeed Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru, who is departing the force following 39 years of duty.

Additionally, Major General Jimson Longiro has been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General by the President, and he has been named Vice-Chancellor of National Defence University - Kenya. "The President has also promoted and appointed Brigadier Thomas Njoroge Ng'ang'a to the rank of Major General and appointed him the Commander Kenya Navy," the Ministry of Defence said in a statement to newsrooms on Friday. "Until his appointment, Lieutenant General Jimson Longiro was the Commander Kenya Navy." He served as Base Commander Kenya Navy Base Manda till he was named Commander Kenya Navy."

Additionally, President Ruto reassigned and promoted seven senior Kenya Defence Force personnel by the recommendations of the council, which was presided over by CS Aden Duale.

Major Juma Shee Mwinyikai, Major Mohammed Nur Hassan, Brigadier Luka Kipkemoi Kutto, Major Aphaxard Muthuri Kiugu, Major John Maison Nkoimo, Brigadier Peter Shikuku Chelimo, and Brigadier Yahya Abdi are the names of these individuals.

As Commandant of the National Defence College, Mwinyikai was promoted to Lieutenant General, while Hassan was posted to the Kenya Army headquarters as Deputy Army Commander.

As General Officer Commanding Eastern Command, Kutto has been promoted to Major General, while Kiugu has been assigned as Commandant of the Kenya Military Academy.

While Chelimo has been sent to the Kenya Navy headquarters and named Deputy Navy Commander, Nkoimo takes on the duty of General Officer Commanding the Border Security Command.

Admitted to the Kenya Navy, Abdi is assigned to the National Defence College as a Senior Directing Staff member.
