After being found not guilty of a murder charge, Jacque Maribe, a former news presenter for Citizen TV, was named Head of Communications at the Public Service Ministry.

A few days after Maribe was found not guilty of killing entrepreneur Monica Kimani, Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced on Sunday.

The businesswoman was killed in 2018 at her Nairobi residence in the Kilimani neighborhood. Maribe was not found guilty of the crime, despite having been prosecuted with her former fiancé Joseph Irungu, also known as Jowie.

Maribe's involvement in the murder was not sufficiently demonstrated by the prosecution, Justice Grace Nzioka decided, stressing that there was not enough evidence to support Maribe's guilt.

Nzioka stressed that Maribe was not suitably charged in court, even though she acknowledged her guilt for giving false information to the police during the murder investigation.

On March 13, Maribe's former fiancé, Jowie, will be sentenced after being found guilty of Monica's murder.
