It is with great sadness that the Kenya Editors' Guild announces the demise of Rita Tinina, a renowned television journalist in Kenya. Editors Guild president Zubeida Kananu remarked, "Rita served as an Output Producer at NTV, showcasing her talent and dedication in the field, until her untimely demise."
According to the Kenya Editors' Guild, journalist Rita Tinina's death has left a long-lasting effect on the media.
Rita was an excellent TV reporter and editor, the Editors' Guild said in a statement.
According to the Guild, her contributions were priceless and had a long-lasting effect on the media environment.
"During her nearly two-decade career, Rita made substantial contributions to NTV and Kenya Television Network as an editor after thriving as a TV reporter. Her efforts were priceless and had a long-lasting effect on the media environment."
Current and former coworkers recalled Tinina as someone always willing to support people in becoming their best selves.
Others stated she exuded professionalism and grace at all times.
The seasoned journalist's house girl discovered her dead in her chamber.
According to the police, on Sunday, March 17, early in the morning, Tinina, 46, was discovered dead in her Kileleshwa, Nairobi, home on Laikipia Road.
She worked as an output producer at NTV, where she was expected to be on duty, but she neglected to show up.
This led her managers at work to dispatch a coworker to the residence where the body was discovered.
The housekeeper informed the police that after waking up and doing her tasks as normal, she discovered Tinina was not awake as scheduled.
Tinina had to get up by 8 a.m. to be ready for work because she had to create the bulletin at 1 p.m. However, she was still asleep at nine in the morning, so the housekeeper knocked on her bedroom door without getting a response.
Fortunately, Tinina had not shut the door from within. She didn't answer when the house girl called. Tinina's eight-year-old daughter was in the living room by that point, watching television.
When the house girl touched Tinina, she allegedly realized she wasn't responding. Then, she gave a call to a family friend who had spent the previous Saturday night with Tinina.
After the autopsy, the body was taken to the mortuary.
