Sisi tukiwa viongozi tumewaambia tutafanya mambo mengi na hatufanyi– Senator Murungi
Tunyenyekee or Gen Z will send us home
Senator Kathuri Murungi of Meru has cautioned other lawmakers to exercise humility when interacting with Generation Z, pointing up that they possess a numerical edge that they may readily use to drive them out.
Murungi, who made his statement on the House floor on Wednesday, claimed that the younger generation is tech-savvy and that it would not take them long to organize online and send home anybody they desired.
"Mr. Speaker, this is a highly educated group, and they communicate instantly. They are also very skilled with computers and IT. They can communicate their message and speak to a million of them right now, he said.
His comments come at a moment when some voters are considering recalling their Members of Parliament for allegedly "betraying" them by endorsing the contested Finance Bill, 2024, even though there are calls for them to reject it.
According to Murungi, the goal of Generation Z is not only to tidy up their "mess," but also to correct all the historical injustices that their parents and the politicians of the previous generation neglected to address when they were growing up.
"As leaders, we promised them we would accomplish a lot, but we have failed in many areas," he remarked.
According to the senator, future leaders will be elected or removed online prior to election day because of Gen Zs' deep familiarity with and comprehension of contemporary technology, particularly computers."Accordingly, it is beneficial for me to counsel my colleagues to get along well with these young people because, Mr. Speaker, if they determine during their online campaigns that a particular senator is incompetent, he will have problems on election day," suggested Murungi. Therefore, in order for us to get along with them, let's be modest, give them our whole attention, and set up meetings to find out what they would like done more.It is indisputable, given the nation's present political realignments, that the Gen Z rebellion has raised hackles among the political establishment.
