The Story of Njambi KoiKai: The Woman who thrived on pain
Njambi Koikai is an endometriosis hero and has suffered from the disease for over 17years. Njambi was a passionate radio presenter and a reggae Emcee who inspired many Kenyan MCs who wanted to pursue journalism and to upcoming reggae Emcees.
The reggae maestro died yesterday in a Nairobi hospital after a long struggle with Endometriosis, which is a condition that occurs after tissues grow outside the uterus causing immense pain especially during menstruation.
A week ago, in a passionate post the Reggae maestro went to her social media pages confirming that she had been admitted at a Nairobi Hospital ward and was in dire need of blood donations.
“Hi fam, I am admitted at Pioneer ward Nairobi Hospital and I urgently need blood O positive. Kindly asking for blood donors for Mary Njambi KoiKai,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
Before her untimely demise, Njambi had underwent several surgeries after she got diagnosed for Endometriosis at age 29.
In February 2018 she left the country and went to Atlanta USA to seek for advanced medical attention because the treatment in Kenya was not working for her and she was still undergoing very painful stints caused by the Endometriosis.
Apparently Njambi did not undergo any further surgeries after she came back from the USA and even described herself as a miracle for her continued recovery from the disease.
Anyone who has attended a Njambi KoiKai reggae show will tell you about the immensity of her a talent. Three months ago, I attended one in Kendubay and I tell you that lady knew how to bring the house down. It was the liveliest reggae show I have ever attended in my life and I can say that it was a privilege to meet and attend the legends show.
