"The driver of motor vehicle Registration KCP 045F was heading towards Naivasha general direction suddenly overtook a fleet of vehicles, which made the driver of motor vehicle Registration KDH 330E swerve to the left to avoid colliding head-on but unfortunately the bus rammed on the right side body pushing it to the ditch," according to the police report.

An Eldoret Express bus and a Northrift shuttle Matatu were involved in a collision on Wednesday along the popular Nakuru-Gilgil stretch that resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries. 

"The driver of motor vehicle Registration KCP 045F was heading towards Naivasha general direction suddenly overtook a fleet of vehicles, which made the driver of motor vehicle Registration KDH 330E swerve to the left to avoid colliding head-on but unfortunately the bus rammed on the right side body pushing it to the ditch," according to the police report. 

When the accident occurred, ten people were on board the Northrift shuttle Matatu. It is said that two individuals passed away immediately, while numerous more who sustained injuries were sent to St. Marys Hospital. 

Meanwhile, the impact on the right front side of the Eldoret Express bus resulted in minor injuries to some of its passengers. 

A policeman affiliated with GSU Embakasi was one of the injured; he received a cut to his forehead. 

In anticipation of an inquiry into the occurrence, the deceased's bodies have been sent to the mortuary of the Gilgil sub-county hospital.
