The Kisii County Assembly has been presented with a motion to remove Robert Monda as Deputy Governor.
Following a dispute between the deputy governor and his boss, Governor Simba Arati, 51 out of 69 MCAs signed a resolution calling for the deputy governor's ouster on Monday.
A charge of abuse of authority and constitutional violations has been brought against the deputy governor of Kisii.
The Gusii Water and Sewerage Company (GWASCO) is the target of an alleged Ksh. 799,000 bribe that he allegedly accepted from Dennis Mokaya.
It is reported that the deputy governor received the money in installments and that a separate amount was presented in person at his Gusii Stadium office.
Furthermore, it is stated that Dr. Monda transferred Ksh. 100,000 to the GWASCO manager, an amount that the manager later returned.
Mr. Dennis Mokaya reported the matter to the DCI when the deputy governor threatened him, claiming he had missed the job opportunity.
The deputy governor is accused of abusing his position by, among other things, utilizing county security officers as farmhands, according to Kisii County Speaker Dr. Philip Nyanumba, who read out the charges in the impeachment resolution.
