All academic tours have been temporarily suspended at Moi University due to a bus accident that almost claimed the lives of 65 students.

The incident happened early on Wednesday at the Nakuru-Nairobi highway's Kimende area.

The decision was publicized on the university's social media accounts by Vice-Chancellor Isaac Kosgey.

"At approximately 9:50 a.m. this morning, our University Bus KCK 583U, carrying 65 students from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili, was involved in a non-fatal traffic accident at Kimende area on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway during an academic trip," said the Vice-Chancellor in a statement.

"As a precautionary measure, all academic trips have been suspended until after the Easter Holidays." According to the college.

Thankfully, no fatalities or injuries were recorded, and every student was safe. There are other means of transportation set up to return the students to the main campus.

After the incident, Kosgey reminded everyone of the significance of road safety during the Easter break and asked everyone to drive carefully.
