Senior council and veteran lawyer Ahmednassir Abdulahi has now moved to the East African Court of Justice to sue Kenya’s Attorney General Justin Muturi for being barred from filing cases and appearing before the Supreme Court.
The advocate is suing for 200m compensation for damages inflicted on him by the ban that was effected in January. In a letter dated January, the supreme court through its registrar Letizia Wachira drafted a letter to inform Ahmednassir that he and his associates would not be allowed to file cases or appear before the top court in the country.
In his petition the senior council wants the Attorney General to revert the ban on him by the Supreme Court. Ahmednassir wants the Arusha-based court to award him 200m in damages, claiming that it's money he had lost for cases he had filed with the Supreme Court.
Ahmednassir has termed the pronouncement on him as unconstitutional as the decision was not based on any law.
