Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has offered striking doctors a 12-hour ultimatum to return to work. If the doctors refuse, he says, they will be replaced.
Speaking at City Hall, Sakaja stated that the physicians' strike was unjustified because the Nairobi County government had already started the process of absorbing intern doctors.
The governor declared that if a doctor is not at their desk when the ultimatum expires, it will be deemed that they have abandoned their duties.
Following a meeting with the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) leadership, Sakaja made his remarks.
