In honor of world marathon champion Kelvin Kiptum, President William Ruto has led the Cabinet in observing a moment of quiet. Kiptum's coach, Gervais Hakizimana, who also lost his life with him, was honored throughout the continuing meeting.

Sunday night, Kiptum and his coach Gervais Hakizimana perished in a car accident. After consulting with the family, it is anticipated that Kenya's sports ministry will oversee the funeral.
Ababu Namwamba, the cabinet secretary for sports, declared that Kiptum was a national hero who "will be honored in death as he was in life."
