HEALTH CS RESPONDS TO PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE ON ISSUES REGARDING NHIF CORRUPTION

To address concerns regarding corruption at NHIF, Health CS Nakhumicha S. Wafula went before the Parliamentary Health Committee on Thursday, which is chaired by Dr. Robert Pukose.

CEO of the NHIF Elijah Wachira drew attention to disparities at Beirut Pharmacy and Medical Center, emphasizing that surgical notifications—rather than public attention—were the driving force behind the audit.
Dr. Pukose gave NHIF a week to identify the policemen who were involved in the illegal payments.
To ensure a smooth transition to SHIF, the committee carried out spot checks across the country to gauge the extent of corruption.
