Campaigns by candidates vying for seats in the upcoming Kisii UDA party polls have become more intense.

On June 22, the United Democratic Alliance party will hold votes in Kisii.

Prominent figures, including a former lawmaker, have continued to be drawn to the positions of Secretary-General and chair of the branch party.

As the campaigns heat up around the county, more people are becoming interested in the treasurer and women's league roles.

In a race that seems to be dominated by guys, about three women have shown their interest in competing.

Along with seasoned politicians Bosco Gichana of Kitutu North and Stephen Manoti of former Bobasi MP, Purity Kirera, a director at Bomas of Kenya, will compete for the position of county chair.

Manoti was unavailable to comment on his bid over the phone for The Star, but Gichana did discuss efforts to invigorate the party.

He declared that he would raise regional support from the 30 percent that President William Ruto received in the 2022 elections to as much as 70 percent.

He went on to discuss the necessity of giving party popularization campaigns more energy, particularly at the grassroots level.

Bosco spoke over the phone with the Star, saying, "I will confront propaganda against our party and try to paint the correct portrait away from the half-truths being spread all over by the rival parties."

He went on to discuss the wasted chances that, if taken advantage of, might greatly benefit the youth from the government.

"Too much noise at the moment prevents proper information flow. When the party is running smoothly under new leadership, these are the things that need to be fixed," he said.

Gichana talked about how the present generation of leaders had squandered chances to forge connections with authorities and candidates who, in his opinion, were left behind during the general elections in 2022.

"These forgotten brave warriors who suffered through the trenches are unhappy and dissatisfied because they were let down by the way things turned out. The president ought to be made aware of this, Gichana continued.

Conversely, Darious Mosoti and vociferous Masimba MCA Bouse Mairura have shown interest in the Secretary-General role.

According to rumors, Jeremiah Matoke, who finished second in the previous election, is also interested in the Bomachoge Chache parliamentary seat.

As the campaign heated up, by Sunday, only two had expressed interest in the position of treasurer.

In the run-up to the polls, everything is set to go, according to UDA national party treasurer and Kitutu Chache North MP Japhet Nyakundi on Friday.

He addressed party members and officials who arrived in Keumbu in Nyaribari Chache on Thursday, saying, "Everything is cut and dry and all we want as we walk down to the polls is a peaceful poll."

Zaheer Jhanda, the Member of Parliament for Nyaribari Chache, expressed optimism that a peaceful poll would give the party another chance to win in the general elections.

"We are proceeding cautiously, well aware that the individuals we elect to lead us will bring about triumph. He spoke over the phone with the Star, "I implore that we elect individuals who have a vision and the party's interests at heart."
