FRANCIS ATWOLI: THE METICULOUS LABOR LEADER

Francis Atwoli has never shyed away from political controversy and worker rights activism in his long labor relations career.

He is well known to be very outspoken in matters relating to workers rights and even politics. Government after government he has defended workers and corrected leaders where he felt that they were not taking the right direction.

Atwoli was first elected to become the Sec Gen for COTU in 2001 a role he has served in ever since. In 1994 he was elected to become the Sec Gen Kenya Planters Union Association. Atwoli serves in many roles as leader in labor relations in the country, continentally and worldwide.

In today’s celebrations we expect him to be in a heated mood after a motion to put term limits for union leaders was launched in parliament. Many have seen that it was a move that was targeted to remove him from a position he has held for over 20years.
