When demonstrators were subjected to excessive force, the police were called in.
The most recent incident occurred on Thursday, June 20, amid the demonstrations against the 2024 Finance Bill.
Regarding how they handled the protesters from Generation Z, the police have drawn harsh criticism.
In accordance with service standing orders and the National Police Service (NPS) Act, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has established guidelines on the use of force.
A police officer must always make an initial effort to utilize non-violent tactics, according to a statement released by IPOA on Friday.
It stated that, in accordance with the act's requirements, obeying a superior's commands is not justification for using force unlawfully.

According to the authorities, every police officer who employs force of any kind must notify their supervisor right away.
If there are injuries due to the use of force, the police officers in attendance are required by IPOA to offer medical attention right away, unless there are valid grounds not to.
The authorities declared that failure to comply would be considered a criminal offense.
Force must be reported to the appropriate authorities right away if it results in death, severe injury, or other significant outcomes.
