The Kenyan Embassy in Riyadh has extended its support to Dorothy Kweyu in her endeavor to procure Ksh150 million to free her son from the noose.

The mother is attempting to raise Ksh150 million by May 15 to secure the release of her son, Stephen Bertrand Munyakho, also known as Stevo. The Embassy tweeted the mother's request.

Munyakho, who has been imprisoned in Saudi Arabia since 2011, runs the risk of being executed if the family is unable to raise the necessary funds.

After they got into a confrontation that resulted in the death of the Yemeni national, Munyakho was detained and found guilty of his murder.

Munyakho has been imprisoned at the Shimeisi Prison in the Governorate of Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for a total of 13 years, according to Kweyu, who has been fighting for her son's release.

On April 9, 2011, Munyakho got into a brawl while working in Saudi Arabia. The following day, the son was arrested.

In March of this year, Kweyu informed the reporters, "My son was sentenced to death by the sword, but this would not be carried out immediately because a child from the Yemeni family was involved."

"I was later informed that he had to be eighteen to be able to vote on the execution of his father's killer."

She was later presented with a financial reparation option under Islamic law, which permits the victim's family to receive a specific sum of money from the aggressor's family.
