To maximize tourist potential across the nation's various tourism circuits, the Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) has started a strategic partnership engagement with county governments.
With the use of a thorough mapping framework, the project catalogs all tourist destinations in the country to boost the travel industry and improve visitor experiences.
Through the collaborations, a destination marketing organization will closely collaborate with each of the 47 counties to pinpoint USPs that will improve visitor experiences and promote domestic travel.
KTB expects a spike in local travel, having already profiled 15 counties with customized itineraries. John Chirchir, the acting CEO of KTB, stressed the program's relevance and outlined his vision for a thriving local tourism industry.
"Kenyans are welcome to investigate the variety of tourism options available within our boundaries. Local tourism may become a strong economic driver with the right marketing, Chirchir said.
Along with emphasizing the critical role that private sector involvement plays in improving tourism infrastructure and experiences, Chirchir also urged investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that exist in every county.
He went on, "Working together with the private sector is crucial for the development of tourism circuits throughout Kenya."
Governor of Nandi County Stephen Sang praised the collaboration and asked for the strategic marketing of regional tourism blocs, pointing out that this will be a crucial factor in maximizing tourism potential throughout Kenyan counties.
He stressed the value of cooperation and partnerships between nations, highlighting how crucial it is to work together to fully realize Kenya's tourist potential.
"Tourism has not yet reached its full potential in this country. To demonstrate to the world what this nation has to offer, the national government must collaborate with local governments and regional economic blocs, said Governor Sang.
In addition to being the current Chair of the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB), Governor Sang emphasized the unexplored potential and urged the government to expand promotional efforts beyond the conventional beach and safari storylines.
