LET`S TAKE CARE OF OUR AGED PARENTS

They say having the elderly in a society is a blessing. First they are believed to be full of wisdom. Those who have them do not take care of them and those who do not have them long to find them and take care of them.

With our modern society, the aged are forgotten and neglected. I feel we have assumed the say, “What you plant is what you harvest in return and you can never harvest where you never planted.”  We forget we are getting old each day and whatever we do to our aged parents the same will be reciprocated to us by our coming generation.

The government however, came up with INUA JAMII fund in order to support the elderly in the society but to my surprise the young and energetic people are the ones benefiting from it. How are they benefiting from it? Many elderly people receive the money and before even budgeting for it the children have already assembled waiting to be given the money.

In many counties we have heard cases where an elderly person was killed after receiving the INUA JAMII funds. They are our parents and let's take care of them. The children of the elderly should support them besides the government. Let's buy food and clothes for them, vacations, special treats and gifts, health checkups, skin care, road trip with them, take grandkids they’ll enjoy interacting with them. They are aging they need humans need family too; they need love and need to be around people.

Prepare meals, eat with them. When sick let's take them to hospital, pay them a visit and pay for them to have the best medical attention.

Curse is real and we should not get cursed because of simple things we see and we can correct. Remember they are the reason we are alive. They sacrificed their life a lot to give us the best they could when they had the energy and so take care of them it's your turn, reciprocate.
