The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have taken into custody a man and a woman who were found in possession of cannabis, which is thought to be worth Ksh.5 million on the black market.
The drugs were hidden in five sacks when the 29-year-old suspects, Samuel Omondi and Judith Kerubo, were captured on the Keroka–Sotik route in Borabu, Nyamira County.
The suspects should be arraigned, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
On Monday night, authorities in Tigania East, Meru, stopped a motorcyclist who was trafficking 30 kilograms of bhang.
According to DCI, at the 1 a.m. incident, the police had to shoot into the air because the rider disobeyed their orders to stop.
"The rider ignored orders to stop and revved on before a gunshot that rented the air interfered with his balance forcing him to abandon his tools of trade and scamper on foot," according to the DCI.
This occurs amid a national campaign to reduce drug misuse and alcohol consumption.
