Riomego Boarding Primary School pupils in Nyamira County are once again tallying their losses on Saturday following the destruction of their dormitory by fire for the third time in less than a week.
There were reports of a fire at the school on Thursday at 3:00 pm, and a dormitory fire at 7 pm the same day.
The Kenya Red Cross verified the event on Thursday, February 1, stating that the fire was reported at approximately 3 p.m.
"There is a fire emergency at Romego Boarding School in Nyamira County. Red Cross stated in a statement on X that "Our response team is actively engaged in response efforts and working to address the situation."

When the county's fire engines arrived in time to contain the fire on Saturday, they saved the day.
The incident has left learners feeling lost and afraid, and leaders have called for in-depth inquiries into it.
"We're interested in learning what exactly causes these kinds of situations. In less than two days, we cannot allow one institution to burn down three times. Adams Mochenwa, a politician, remarked, "There must be an issue somewhere."
As of press time, however, neither the school administration nor any education officials had commented on the matter.
