ODM'S DECISION-MAKING PERIOD AS A MAJOR ORGAN MEETS
Among the items on the agenda for ODM's National Governing Council (NGC) meeting this morning is the ratification of important suggestions made by its National Executive Council (NEC) on community surveys and renaming the National Elections Board (NEB) as the National Elections Council.
It is anticipated that the Orange party will approve significant choices today that may change how its Elections Board is run.
Among the items on the agenda for ODM's National Governing Council (NGC) meeting this morning is the ratification of important suggestions made by its National Executive Council (NEC) on community surveys and renaming the National Elections Board (NEB) as the National Elections Council.
The party's top organ, the NGC, is one of those who can endorse the proposals of the NEC, as party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna stated yesterday.
"The purpose of the NGC meeting is to support the NEC decision. Before our local elections, this includes updating the Election Coordination Committee. That is the meeting's agenda, according to Sifuna, the senator from Nairobi.
Opiyo Wandayi, the secretary of ODM Political Affairs, clarified that the NGC is capable of carrying out the duties of the National Delegates Conference (NDC), which convenes once every five years.
Since the NGC can act on behalf of the NDC, the Ugunja MP and Minority Leader of the National Assembly assert that the ratification of the NGC is final. "The NEC's recommendations will be approved by NGC. Being able to act on behalf of the National Delegates Conference means that anything they ratify will be final. NEC suggested a few issues, according to Wandayi.
On September 6, 2023, the NGC will convene to approve the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), a three-member body that will take the place of the National Elections Board (NEB), which was dissolved by NEC recommendations.
NGC will also approve the proposal for NECC, which will be implemented at the county level by a three-person County Elections Committee and now has delegated roles.
