On Monday Belio Kipsang attributed the financial challenges in the sector to the allocation of funds to the ministry. Belio said that the ministry is allocated Kshs 54b intended for 3.2million students while the enrolment of students in the country stands at 4.2m hence causing the cash crunch in the ministry.

Opposition leaders lashed at the government for creating a crisis in the education sector due to the delayed release of funds to schools.

Opposition minority leader Opiyo Wandayi said that the Ministry of Education has failed to release funds intended to run schools on many occasions since the Kenya Kwanza regime came into office. Opiyo said that the education sector is on the verge of collapse and called for speedy interventions.
