By choosing Patrick Mwiti as the new Commissioner General of Prisons, President William Ruto has proclaimed a dramatic shift in the direction of Kenya's prison administration.
A significant change in the management of the nation's prisons has occurred with this appointment, which was announced to the public on Friday, July 12.
Mwiti takes over for Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba, who is about to expire from active duty and go on terminal leave.
President Ruto is continuously working to revitalize and enhance the efficacy of police services, and this reform is a part of that endeavor.
"Appointing Mr. Patrick Mwiti Arandu as Commissioner General of Prisons," President Ruto said in a formal statement. Colonel (Rtd) John Warioba, CBS, who is currently on terminal leave till the end of his term, will be replaced by him."
In 2021, former President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed John Warioba in the wake of the highly publicized jailbreak at Kamiti Maximum Security Prisons.
