SENIOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AMONG THOSE USING FAKE CERTIFICATES

An audit by the public service commission has revealed that senior government officials are among those who used forged certificates to secure jobs in government. This is amid calls by president Ruto that all people using fake certificates should be charged and refund government.

According to a probe by EACC Oscar Sudi’s case is the oldest in the fake certificates’ saga.  The Kapseret lawmaker was arraigned in a Nairobi court in 2016 with allegations of using forged academic certificates. Sudi is a close ally of President Ruto.

Turkana governor Jeremiah Loromukai has also been caught in the fake papers’ crossfire. Although he has not been charged formally, it is alleged that the governor acquired a diploma and degree from KEMU fraudulently.

Nairobi governor Johnstone Sakaja also found himself in the spot during the last elections after he failed to submit a degree to IEBC during the clearing period. Sakaja was cleared of forgery allegations after a Nairobi court could not find evidence that his TEAMS University degree was fake.

The list goes on and on and Kenyans will be watching how the fake academic certificates saga will pan out following president Ruto’s orders to expunge those using fake certificates from public service.
