BUSIA SENATOR OKIYA OMTATAH INVOLVED IN A TRAILER ACCIDENT IN KISUMU ON FRIDAY MORNING

Busia On Friday, while traveling to Busia, Senator Okiya Omtatah was involved in an accident in Kisumu.
The trailer driver lost control, slamming into his car and knocking him off the road, causing the accident, which happened in the vicinity of Ojola.
In an interview with a local media outlet, Omtatah said that while he was trying to dodge, the trailer struck his car. Omtatah, who was traveling with his driver, was unharmed in the collision.
The senator claimed that the trailer came to rest in a ditch a few meters distant.
Nevertheless, Omtatah was unreachable at the time this story was published.

Omtatah added, "The safety belt prevented me from getting hurt by keeping me in place while he was on the chair." All of the car was spared as it came to rest on the side of the road.
Under interrogation, the trailer's driver admitted that the brakes had malfunctioned, causing him to veer off the main route and collide with the senator's car.
As per the reports, the accident scene was processed and an investigation was initiated by the Maseno Police Station personnel.
According to a National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) report, 1,100 fatalities were reported between the hours of 7-9 pm, making it the riskiest and deadliest period to travel on Kenyan roads.
The information also revealed that, between January 1 and February 11, 2024, 563 persons died in traffic accidents, with pedestrians suffering the greatest death toll (266).
