Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi has been under siege for weeks after MPs moved a motion on the floor to impeach him.
Linturi is accused for being involved in the fake fertilizer scam that saw several farmers make loses after the ministry delivered fertilizer that was mixed with stones.
An expose by a local media house exposed shrewd dealings by the the controversial CS in the past. In the expose, it is revealed that Linturi and Kenyan president William Ruto have had a close relationship and have oftenly shared favours since the Uhuru era when Ruto was president.
The impunity within the Kenya Kwanza has been exposed after several sources have revealed that the CS attempted to bribe them to vote against the motion.
The big question for Kenyans will be, is the shielding of Linturi a blockade to not expose the corruption in government? Or is it a reward for loyalty to the powers that be?
With the display at the house last night, this motion has left a bitter taste in many people’s mouths and what breaks the camel’s back is that we have had representatives of the people protect impunity, incompetence and corruption.
All in all it was indeed a close shave for Linturi.
